Happy 21st birthday!! I truly cannot believe you have reached the big one – stop making me feel so old!
On this special day, I think some congratulations are in order.
Congratulations on being the cutest baby I have ever seen. With your huge eyes, chubby cheeks and mop of curly hair, you were just a tiny, drooling, pooing angel.
Congratulations on (and I know this is going to increase the size of that head of yours) being mind-blowingly brilliant. Not many people can say they are smart, athletic AND artistic. Thanks for taking all three sets of good genes! When you were in school, I always admired how you could spend a long day studying, have cricket practice for three hours and then start working on a project for Art. When I was in high school, it was all studying, studying, studying, studying.
Congratulations on hooking me onto all things PlayStation, especially Army of Two and Borderlands. I know I am basically the worst partner in those shooting games due to my horrific aim and inability to move my character’s camera, but those hours spent killing monsters are some of my best memories. Especially since, from the time you were 13, we could really only spend time together when I came home at the end of term.
Congratulations on growing up so strong. You had a lot to deal with at home, and you got through it all on your own. I think our relationship today would be very different had I chosen to study in Durban, and had I never left to work and travel abroad.
Lastly, congratulations on making it to your 21st year with your wonderful heart undamaged. I wish you many, many, many more years of love, laughter and light. I love you!
